The Lake Placid Rail Trail project is truly a testament to the commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable outdoor recreational space for the entire community to enjoy. The construction began at Station Street in Lake Placid, just west of the Lake Placid Depot, and ended just past the Saranac Lake Depot near the intersection of Cedar Street and Route 86, totaling 9.9 miles. Prioritizing an enhanced trail experience, various crucial elements were carefully considered and implemented.

To commence the project, the rail trail was reclaimed and leveled. This was done to ensure a smooth and level surface for pedestrians and cyclists, offering a seamless journey through the breathtaking Heart of the Adirondacks.

Moreover, the project's dedication to visitor convenience is evident in the complete reconstruction of four parking lots, offering ample parking for trail enthusiasts. The meticulous re-decking of eight rail trail bridges and the replacement of one deteriorating bridge showcase a commitment to safety and longevity, ensuring that users can traverse the trail with peace of mind.

In addition to these enhancements, the installation of fencing along the trail serves as a vital safety measure, preventing accidents and unauthorized access. This not only promotes a secure environment but also fosters a sense of community among all trail enthusiasts as they explore and enjoy the beauty of the Adirondacks.

A big thank you to our incredible team for safely completing another successful project!
